Holidate: time and time again, films come along, particularly in the romantic comedy genre, and show that they can be generic and unoriginal but still manage to be entertaining. That’s not the case with this particular John Whitesell’s film. The two main characters are far from being interesting, and they have no chemistry together; the concept of the film generates no goodwill towards them or their relationship, and the ending is a foregone conclusion. Emma Roberts looks cute, Luke Bracey is generically hunky, they form a beautiful-looking couple in static images, but there’s nothing that could be done with such dull and unappealing characters. The varied stable of supporting actors can’t do much either. There is nothing visually that sets this one apart, either.
