A Concerto Is a Conversation: Kris Bowers and Ben Proudfoot short documentary is a sweet conversation between grandfather and grandson (co-director Bowers himself), which describes how the former created the conditions for the latter to become a world-famous musician. It serves as a reminder of the many obstacles put in front of African-Americans, without lingering too much in it. Nicely shot by David Bolen and Brandon Somerhalder, as the conversation is shot from very close, creating a great sense of intimacy. Editor Lukas Dong uses a great deal of archival material to give visual aid to the decades-long journey.
