The Body: there’s not one element of the plot of Jeethu Joseph’s thriller that is not far-fetched; those can still be entertaining, of course, but it all depends on the execution. The musical interludes don’t work here, as they don’t add to the story or to character development, but slow the pace quite a lot and break the sinister mood the story has. Performances are uneven: Emraan Hashmi looks the part of a trophy husband, but he just mugs around; Rishi Kapoor is appropriate as the persistent cop; Sobhita Dhulipala brings some welcome duplicitousness and unstableness to the dead femme fatale of sorts; some minor performances go for a comedic key that badly matches the material. Visually, the film is excessively lit by director of photography Satheesh Kurup, which makes it look cheap in addition to breaking the mood.
