Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: director and writer
James Gunn knows that one does not change a winning team; this sequel is entertaining, but barely any new ground is broken. The film is energetic and colorful (the poster does it a great deal of justice); it has also very funny moments. The plot itself is very busy (there is an excess of antagonists and sub-plots to be solved, which makes most of them rushed or underdeveloped), but it still nevertheless culminates in an emotional high. The whole cast (a large one) is clearly having a lot of fun with their very colorful characters (sometimes, literally); Dave Bautista is the one that stands out the most. The song selection is very nice and sets the mood really well. Visually, the film is a feast to the eyes, with plenty of zany make-up work and dynamic visual effects.
