The Connection: Cédric Jimenez’s film is well-put together and solid, but also excessively conventional, recognizable. The plot, as well as some of the tools used, borrow heavily from other films, but does so effectively and excitingly. Jean Dujardin is a good presence as the central character, as is Gilles Lellouche as his antagonist. Production values are very good, with the costume design recreating the time period spot-on. The soundtrack is, like much, a bit cliché (specially as it mixes a few non-French tracks), but (for that exact reason) matches the film very well.
