Fifth about The Seventh

Rocco and His Brothers (Rocco e i Suoi Fratelli)

Rocco and His BrothersRocco and His Brothers: Luchino Visconti makes a touching, complex, poetic drama that is also full of funny bits and pieces; the film also provides many insights about its time and places, making this a rich, incredible cinematic experience. The characters are all layered and interesting, and superbly defended by the cast; Annie Girardot, Alain Delon and Renato Salvatori, the central characters, are in great shape, each on a different key. All is captured in wonderful black-and-white by Giuseppe Rotunno (the recent restoration by Cineteca di Bologna makes the film look pristine and is highly recommended). Nino Rota’s music is the perfect complement to the beautiful images.
