House of Cards – Season Four

House of Cards S4House of Cards – Season Four: by now, talking about this series is preaching to the converted; for the most part, people watching it will keep doing so. The main plot line is getting (perhaps?) more and more far-fetched, but that’s par for the course. It does, however, embrace more and more external factors in the story, so it doesn’t feel like a simple retread of old paths, but an ever-broadening exploration. Acting is solid as usual, and the addition of new faces (Ellen Burstyn, Cicely Tyson, Joel Kinnaman, among others) is very welcome.

The show embraces its cold, somber visuals, and the consistency (again, the same cinematographer is used in most episodes) is important to keep the focus on the writing and acting.
