The next stop in the awards season is the Producers Guild of America, to be presented on January 19th. The full list of nominees can be seen in their website.

My appreciation for 2013 has been documented elsewhere; the field put together by the PGA is quite impressive, for the most part. Without further ado:

Best Producer: Alfonso Cuarón and David Heyman for Gravity

In this day and age when risk-taking in films seems to be rather low (sequels, prequels, reboots and franchises abound), the producers risked to shoot a film that needed to invent technology to be completed. That, of course, would mean nothing if the film, ultimately, hadn’t been such a success (as a storytelling piece, as the perfect combination of technique and emotion and, icing on the cake, commercially.)
