Call My Agent! The Movie: Émilie Noblet’s film-set dramedy, a sequel to the series centered on the partners and workers in a talent agency, picks up a few years after the series ended. This time, one of the former agents is preparing to direct her first feature, and chaos ensues (but also reunites the former gang). Films about film sets can be entertaining, as all sorts of disasters can occur and relationships are often taken to extremes, and this is no exception. Alas, a feature film (as opposed to a long-form series) has to pick and choose who to focus on, so some of the old ensemble are left hanging. In any case, focusing on Camille Cottin’s (the manipulative but artistic former agent turned film director) and Laure Calamy’s (the former personal assistant turned film producer) characters proves to be a solid choice. Laetitia Casta and Vincent Macaigne, playing versions of themselves (or their film personas), are very entertaining. The film has a polished and bright look, with costume designers Marion Moulès and Matthieu Camblor helping define the characters with their clothes.
