The Hypnosis: this dramedy by Ernst De Geer follows a young couple of entrepreneurs as they go to a workshop; however, just before it, she goes to hypnotherapy so she can quit smoking, which has some unforeseeable effects on her behaviour around the self-important, self-serious jerks who fill the event. Purposefully cringy and judgemental, this is an interesting little film. Asta Kamma August plays the female protagonist well, a bit of a wallflower who suddenly loses some of her inhibitions but not the sadness in her eyes. Herbert Nordrum, as her boyfriend and business partner, is all nervousness and anxiety. Aesthetically, the film is simple and efficient, taking place mostly in a sterile hotel. Editor Robert Krantz gives the film a nice, no-nonsense pace.
