Sometimes I Think About Dying: Rachel Lambert’s quiet, modest drama is a film that eventually creeps on the viewer: the protagonist is a timid, quiet girl, living in a small town, barely interacting with the handful of coworkers in the small office where she works. Everything changes when a new guy starts working there. The protagonist, beautifully played by Daisy Ridley in a quiet and touching performance, starts as not very interesting in her wallflowerishness, but her eventual earnest desire to feel and be more appealing is moving. Dave Merheje plays the new guy on the block, an outgoing and pleasing fellow, with effectiveness. Production designer Daniel Maughiman creates a properly boring office space, and director of photography Dustin Lane captures it all with fine camerawork. Editor Ryan Kendrick gives the film a fine pace, with a short runtime that doesn’t overstay its welcome.
