Ninjababy: in this dramedy, Yngvild Sve Flikke tells the story of a young woman, full of dreams but lacking plans, who finds out a bit too late that she is pregnant. The film deals with her relationships with friends, her half-sister, potential fathers, and the unborn baby himself, whom she draws in a comics-style. The simple but charming animation that peppers throughout the film is its main source of humour, and also a window into the mind and soul of the protagonist. Kristine Kujath Thorp is very entertaining and touching as the irreverent and lost protagonist. Nader Khademi is fine as an earnest and caring possible father, as is Arthur Berning as the sleazy other candidate. The film is nicely put together, with editor Karen Gravås giving it a snappy pace, making this an entertaining and insightful experience.
