Fifth about The Seventh

The Informer (2019)

The Informer: the violence and grittiness of the setting are embraced by Andrea Di Stefano in this film, but the storyline is very tired and murky, particularly towards the end. The storytelling does nothing to bring anything new to the table. The same could be said about the characters, who could be fully described with a single word. The acting, in general, doesn’t help; at best, it is indifferent. Joel Kinnaman looks threatening enough, but he is the perfect visual representation of inexpressive as the criminal to turns out to be an informer. Rosamund Pike, Ana de Armas, Clive Owen, and Common are stuck with their underdeveloped characters and are unable to do much. The editing of Job ter Burg is efficient but pedestrian, and the images of cinematographer Daniel Katz are washed-out, helping to bring home visually the characteristics of the universe.
