Another Round: Thomas Vinterberg’s drama focuses its attention on four teacher friends, all going through some measure of a midlife crisis, who decide to solve their problems by getting drunk. The film is relatively non-judgemental in its approach; it’s also very obvious and dull, as it preaches, above all, moderation. It truly feels like a lot of film for such an inane conclusion, as, moment to moment, the story fails to bring anything truly fascinating. The performances are appropriate but far from spectacular: Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang, and Lars Ranthe all can play a drunk but are otherwise really controlled. Rigorously and efficiently shot by cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen, the film also has a decent collection of music playing.
