Love at Second Sight: sporting one of those concepts that works so well in romantic comedies and featuring a good-looking couple at the center, Hugo Gélin’s film is feel-good and charming. By the other hand, the main character is such a self-centered idiot at first (and played with great gusto by François Civil), that it’s hard to care too much about his goals and desires. That’s not to say that they are not justifiable: Joséphine Japy has a very down-to-earth beauty and warmth as the other half of the central couple. The film’s secret weapon, however, is Benjamin Lavernhe; he has a few hilarious moments as the sidekick friend. The film looks polished, even if somewhat generic, but makes good use of its appealing locations.
