Finding Dory: Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane’s film may not be wholly original (beyond the obvious fact that it is a sequel), but it makes up for that being very emotionally engaging. The story is deceptively simple, and the character gallery very colorful; all of it is easy to relate to and a testimony at how efficient the storytelling is. Voice acting is very strong, without a false note in the large cast; Ed O’Neill is the one that stands out the most. The pace is brisk, and the film is very entertaining, funny. The animation itself is beautiful, the characters and environment very colorful and detailed.
The short that proceeds it, Alan Barillaro’s Piper, has a great, realistic look to it (both the sandy environment and the lovely characters); the story is charming, heartfelt and inspiring.
