For the first time, I’ll be doing this with ASIFA-Hollywood’s Annie Awards, now in its 43rd edition. It will be presented February 6th, 2016. Here is their list of nominees.
(Nope, not a member either. )
The Annie Awards have a multitude of categories, only two of which I’ll cast a vote for:
Best Animated Feature: Inside Out (Pixar Animation Studios)
The animation looks great (character designs, the environment, it’s all fantastic), but it’s an incredibly strong and deep story that does the trick here.
Best Animated Feature – Independent: When Marnie Was Here (Studio Ghibli)
Again, it’s the combination of a touching story with a great style of animation. The hand-drawn look is perfect for a story that carries this much nostalgia.
