Fifth about The Seventh

When Marnie Was There (Omoide no Mânî)

When Marnie Was ThereWhen Marnie Was There: Hiromasa Yonebayashi tells a beautiful, deep story with great sensibility, delicacy and finesse; the result is always engaging and touching. Besides the quality of the story, it’s the animation that makes this work so well: the images are always great-looking, with an eerie feel to them (much like most of what came out of Studio Ghibli, in beautifully colored and lovingly drawn 2-D; it is hard to think of an animation style that would fit the material any better). Takatsugu Muramatsu’s music adds to the mood rather nicely.
