Inside Out: Pete Docter and Ronaldo Del Carmen start out from a somewhat abstract concept and run with it; the results are insightful, engaging and funny. The visual representation of those ideas and the world design is lovely and feels spot on, as does the character design, neither being overly intricate. Voice acting is consistently exquisite; Richard Kind may be the highlight, but every other cast member is perfectly picked and they perform accordingly. Michael Giacchino’s score works perfectly. The story, however, trumps all the considerations above: it’s always interesting and touching, and that’s the true reason for this success of this film.
