Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max Fury RoadMad Max: Fury Road: George Miller’s film walks a tight rope. By one hand, there is no pretense the story is a complicated one; in fact, within the confines of the setting, it’s mostly a reasonable story (the one spot where the decisions made don’t seem logical falls in the horses scenario in Stagecoach). By the other hand, the film is visually stunning; the designs (vehicles, costumes, make-up) are at times enthralling, at times repulsive, always somewhat delirious. Likewise the action scenes (of which there are many, all very exciting); they are all enhanced by the camerawork of John Seale and the editing of Jason Ballantine & Margaret Sixel. Tom Hardy grunts intenselly here, but it’s Charlize Theron that stands the tallest among the cast.
