The White Ribbon

The White Ribbon: formal, tough, brutal. Beautifully shot, but cold as ice. It’s the kind of movie that can suck the hope out of your chest.

Ajami: very very good.. At last a movie which the comparison to City of God holds not because of camera angles but because of the themes. Somewhat anyway. I was longing for something this good!

Il Divo: makes me proud of my country’s politicians. Almost. OK, maybe not. The movie itself could have a bit more substance and less style. Or maybe just less style, particularly with the annoying way the put the texts on screen.

The Last Station: Helen Mirren is, as usual, great. Plummer is OK, nothing out of this world. The movie as a whole is meh.

The Messenger: good, strong acting but lacking something. Some of the connections felt too sudden. War sucks, however.
