Muito Prazer: this comedy by Jorge Furtado tells the story of a broken rideshare driver who inherits a decrepit love hotel from an uncle’s will; there, alongside a former worker and an AV specialist, they try to get the place back in working order. Wholesome and entertaining, with appealing characters set in a somewhat outlandish situation, this is a fine, unpretentious sit. Luisa Arraes and Daniel de Oliveira play the two protagonists. She is the former worker who is squatting in the old building, and he is the heir who decides to risk everything (which, granted, is not much) to make the place work again. Samantha Jones plays the tech specialist with designs to become a director. The performances are light, and the performers display good chemistry. The location where most of the film takes place is appropriately gaudy, designed clearly with tongue-in-cheek by art directors Dayane Paz and Fiapo Barth. Editor Giba Assis Brasil gives the film a nice, easy-going pace; the music selection works quite well.
