Fifth about The Seventh

Dream Scenario

Dream Scenario: the most interesting aspect of Kristoffer Borgli’s film is that one never knows where it is headed next; the most distressing is that the writer-director doesn’t seem to know either, partially squandering a promising concept with a thud to finish it. In any case, it is an appealing look at the culture of undeserved and uncalled fame. Nicolas Cage is very entertaining as the man who gets famous all of a sudden for being a passive participant in the dreams of others and being otherwise an altogether forgettable figure. Julianne Nicholson, as his wife, is OK. Cinematographer Benjamin Loeb’s images are, for the most part, grainy, with the framing being slightly off just to reinforce visually the sense of weirdness of the story.
