Fifth about The Seventh

Come Drink With Me (Dà Zuì Xiá)

Come Drink With Me: this wuxia classic, by KING Hu, tells a simple story, but it has colourful characters and elegant, dynamic action (if naturally quite old-fashioned) to make up for it. It follows a swordmaster who is intent on getting her brother released from a bandit group. Acting is, not surprisingly, a bit over-the-top; CHENG Pei-pei plays the stern and efficient swordsmaster, showing great elegance in the fight scenes; YUEH Hua, as the beggar who is more than he appears and helps her, is fine in his role; CHAN Hung-lit and LEE Wan-chung play two smiling baddies with mustache-twirling panache. Cinematographer NISHIMOTO Tadashi lights the scenes beautifully and moves the camera elegantly. Composer CHOW Lan-ping contributes with a very nice musical score.
