Fifth about The Seventh

Flee (Flugt)

Flee: this very interesting and touching documentary by Jonas Poher Rasmussen chronicles a story that is sadly becoming more and more common: the physical and emotional journey of people that are not welcome in their country of origin and have to fight, tooth and nails, to find a new home. The choice of using animation to tell this story is not purely aesthetic but also grounded in good reason within the story. The animation is simple but effective, and it allows for some visual fluidity that always feels justified. Editor Janus Billeskov Jansen also intercuts with real footage, as a stark reminder that this story is set in our world and not some made-believe construct. This is a very powerful experience.
