Fifth about The Seventh

Logan Lucky

Logan Lucky: this light caper film is not wholly original, but then again Steven Soderbergh is copying, among others, himself; also, the unusual setting and the character gallery bring some freshness to the proceedings and elevate the entertainment value, as well as the emotional engagement. The cast is very game: Daniel Craig has the most flamboyant role (and acts away from his usual movie persona); Adam Driver and Channing Tatum are also very funny playing against type; the kid Farrah Mackenzie is charming. Soderbergh has triple duty as cinematographer and editor (albeit under his traditional aliases) and delivers on all those fronts: the editing is smart, while the camera is unusually quiet and observant.
