Fifth about The Seventh

Bingo – The King of the Mornings (Bingo – O Rei das Manhãs)

Bingo – The King of the Mornings: Daniel Rezende’s changed-names biopic turns quickly into a shallow cautionary tale, leaving behind all character development that could make this interesting. It doesn’t help that most characters are uninteresting to begin with. The film displays some flashes of high energy, and efficiently recreates the time period (the soundtrack that includes a few timely songs, costumes, art direction and general mood), but that doesn’t save the whole story of being a bit of a bore. Vladimir Brichta, as the title character, is in good shape; Leandra Leal has a thankless role, but does what she can with it. Lula Carvalho’s cinematography is efficient, but not particularly special.
