Paris Can Wait: Eleanor Coppola’s film is light, airy as a soufflé; there is not much plot, just excuses to travel through Southern France and see examples of the French cuisine. That does not make it a bad or boring experience, just a slight one. The casting is great on paper (one can’t get too wrong with Diane Lane, and Arnaud Viard has a nice presence), but the acting is stilted, as if the actors were uncomfortable with the dialogue (as opposed to the characters being uncomfortable with the situation, which could make sense). Director of photography Crystel Fournier work is simple but elegant, capturing the lovely ladscape and the appetizing food efficiently.
