The Accountant: the plot of Gavin O’Connor’s actioner is excessively busy; it tries too hard, so much so that the unpredictability becomes predictable at the end, even if serviceably entertaining. Needless to say that to call any of the people in this film a character is a major stretch. Ben Affleck is effective at not emoting (as he was supposed to, according to the screenplay), and Anna Kendrick is cute (and not required to be anything but). The large action sequence is mostly played in such darkness that it’s hard to follow what’s going on; otherwise, Seamus McGarvey’s cinematography is fine.
