Mustang: Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s film has an interesting, entertaining and contemporary story to tell; it falls into the general category of important themes, one that is not relegated to the film’s setting. It portrays the story in relatively simple terms, but the central characters are all very engaging (even if the supporting characters turn out to be somewhat too thin). The cast is lovely, Güneş Şensoy in particular. Visually, it’s serviceable, with a dreamy quality to it.
