The next stop in the tour of guild awards is the Directors Guild of America, to be presented February 6th, 2016. Here is their list of nominees.

(Again, I’m not a member of any of the guilds I’m fictionally voting, hence the word fictional.)

 

Best Director – Feature Film: Adam McKay for The Big Short

Mr. McKay perfectly imprinted a comedic key to this complex story; the timing he gets out of his performers is great, but never to the point of getting in front of the story.

(A shout out to Mr. Iñárritu and Mr. Miller; both directed technically complex works, but their stories were not as well-told.)
