Fifth about The Seventh

Magic Mike XXL

Magic Mike XXLMagic Mike XXL: Gregory Jacobs embraces the facts that there is barely any story to be told and that the characters are mere cardboard figures (or impressively toned bodies with hardly any personality traits, to be more precise). The film does so, however, with much gusto and joy; the characters are enjoying their time and it’s easy to get involved in that mood, however empty the whole thing is. Acting, per se, is a non-factor; most of what matters is how they move, and in that sense (and that alone), Channing Tatum is impressive, since his dance is. Steven Soderbergh (under his usual aliases) shot and edited this work effectively, but at times the colors are off-looking.
