Focus: Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s film owes most of its good things to the well-oiled, attractive and varied cast; the acting is charming, slick. The central pair, Margot Robbie and Will Smith, have great chemistry, and the only reason they don’t walk away with the film is because Gerald McRaney is equally interesting to watch. The film looks polished, making good use of the somewhat atypical locations. The flip side, however, is that the story being told is somewhat uneven, with disconnected parts and themes, ultimately vapid, however pleasant.
