Fifth about The Seventh

Million Dollar Arm

Million Dollar Arm: Craig Gillespie’s film has an interesting story; it is, however, one of those that seem to be too calculating in its intent to inspire and make the viewer feel good, as everything falls in place, almost too easily. Slickly done, it looks good but unremarkably so. The cast is certainly capable: Jon Hamm, Bill Paxton and Lake Bell all make the most of their somewhat schematic characters (for obvious reasons, Jon Hamm is the one with more to do); Alan Arkin, while serviceable, seems to be repeating the same role over and over again.
