Fifth about The Seventh

Young Mr. Lincoln

Young Mr. Lincoln: in many ways, a typical Fordian movie, particular in his mix of respect and amusement for the old American ways. Almost refreshing is his portrait of a man who, nowadays, would be treated in a God-like manner, showing some traits that could be considered weaknesses. But it also lacks some of his usual muscularity. (And, neither here not there, but Fonda’s makeup was a bit distracting early on.)
