Fifth about The Seventh

Laura (1944)

LauraLaura: Otto Preminger spins a good, engaging yarn, an elegant mix of noir and romance. Much of the air of sophistication comes from the excellent cast: Gene Tierney may have never looked so ethereal and any better, Clifton Webb is pitch-perfect as a poison-spewing cosmopolitan; Dana Andrews completes the main cast very convincingly. Costume design and art direction are top-notch, both beautifully captured by the superb camera work of Joseph LaShelle. The camera movements are efficient and beautiful, don’t call attention to themselves, but add to the general sense of refinement.
