Fifth about The Seventh

A Fish Called Wanda

A Fish Called Wanda: this black comedy, by Charles Crichton (and an uncredited John Cleese), follows a group of robbers after they rob some diamonds, just to double and triple cross each other in the aftermath. In the process, they get a barrister involved, and a great deal of absurdities happen. The cast is excellent and in great shape: Jamie Lee Curtis plays the seductive member of the gang, seducing left and right, trying to get ahead. John Cleese plays the bumbling barrister. Kevin Kline plays the psychopathic, jealous, short-fused weapons man in a very fine comedic performance. Michael Palin plays the stuttering, sweet, animal-loving member. Editor John Jympson gives the film a pleasurable, fast pace, milking the most out of parallel cutting for comic effect. Cinematographer John Du Prez’s work is efficient, displaying some odd shots to avoid being too conventional.
