Fifth about The Seventh

Les Coquillettes

Les Coquillettes: Sophie Letourneur’s unpretentious comedy follows a fictional version of herself, as she is going to the Locarno Film Festival to present a film; accompanied by two friends, all they seem to be interested in is finding love. Or sex. The film is interestingly framed, as they meet later to remember and tell their side of what happened, and the inconsistencies reveal much about the characters. Letourneur herself, Camille Genaud, and Carole Le Page play the three friends nicely enough, respectively the Louis Garrel-obsessed director, the indecisive romantic, and the serious one. The film’s pace is tight, and generally, the aesthetics are simple, functional, and pleasing.
