The Super 8 Years: this documentary, put together by famed writer Annie Ernaux and her son David Ernaux-Briot, takes a look at the home videos shot in Super 8 by her former husband Philippe Ernaux. Those images, of many travels and their domestic lives, are accompanied by descriptions and reflections, read by her. Her text is pretty interesting (no surprise, given her recent Nobel Prize in Literature), but her reading voice is monotonous, and the asynchronous nature of the images and the soundtrack makes it too easy to be distracted by one thing or another and lose track of the film. Composer Florencia Di Concilio provides a beautiful, if spare, musical score.
