Assassin’s Creed: it is a Hollywood time-tested tradition that, every once in a while, a project will be done mostly to pay the bills. It’s not easy to pick up what is harder to understand: what attracted director Justin Kurzel and castmates Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender to this particular script; what the hell is going on in this busy, pseudo-philosophical, pretentious plot; or the confusing action scenes, edited in ultra-kinetic mode by Christopher Tellefsen. The look is equally annoying, mixing smoky, murky, earthy tones with cold, metallic tones. Acting is unconvincing through and through (even it if is a pleasure to see Michael Kenneth Williams, but he also deserved better).
