Fifth about The Seventh

Things to Come (L’Avenir)

Things to ComeThings to Come: the film of Mia Hansen-Løve is a deceptively simple, delicate drama; what happens to the character is not as relevant as the way she reacts or, more to the point, what she has to say about it. The dialogues are rich, literate. Isabelle Huppert gives a subtle, low-key performance that is the key for the attractiveness of this; the rest of the cast is solid, but not given much to do. The camerawork of Denis Lenoir is fine: it does so discreetly, without calling attention to itself, but the camera is very dynamic. Good looking locations.
