Fifth about The Seventh

The Brand New Testament (Le Tout Nouveau Testament)

The Brand New TestamentThe Brand New Testament: Jaco Van Dormael chose to, instead of having a good story to tell, resort to profane satire in this film. The problem is, the satire is not particularly funny or insightful, so all that is left is a promising concept poorly executed. The episodic nature also breaks down the narrative flow, making it even less engaging. Acting is uneven, at times too broad, at times too dull; the lack of developed characters certainly didn’t help. Visually slick, but that’s not a saving grace.
