Diplomacy: Volker Schlöndorff’s film has an interesting story to tell (it’s beside the point how close to true it is); the possible outcome is so dramatic that the journey is enticing (even if one know how this ends). Nicely acted by both André Dussollier and Niels Arestrup. Visually, the film is very conventional and does little to hide its stage origins; nevertheless, it’s capably done. Michel Amathieu photographs nicely the carefully designed sets and costumes.
