Fifth about The Seventh

Mia Madre (2015)

Mia MadreMia Madre: while Nanni Moretti is dealing with a touching, emotional moment in the main character’s life, the thread-less, loosely episodic way the story is told ends up reducing its emotional impact, without providing asides that are engaging. Acting is inconsistent: Moretti himself and Margherita Buy are mostly subdued and convincing (him more so than her), but John Turturro is given a more thankless role, too comedic at times and without much of a purpose in the main story.
