Burnt: John Wells is not handed good material here (but he’s still heavy-handed with what he got); the story, what little there is to it, is not particularly interesting; the characters are poorly drawn, unengaging. It’s a solid cast, spearheaded by Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, but they are doing unspectacular work, understandably. The film has a polished if conventional look (thanks to cinematographer Adriano Goldman), with good-looking sets; in fact, the images of food, both ready and being prepared, are the main highlight here.
