Aloha: Cameron Crowe’s film wastes a perfectly good, interesting cast, with a story that tries hard to span many themes and genres but succeeds at not even one of those; even moments that should resonate feel so disconnected that they are weakened as a result. Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams and Bradley Cooper, as well as the supporting cast, try their best, but can’t make the dialogue sing. Visually, the film is unremarkable (except for a few moments where the camera movements are downright unsettling); the use of music, however, is efficient and varied, the highlight of the film.
