Fifth about The Seventh

Out of the Past (1947)

Out of the PastOut of the Past: Jacques Tourneur delivers a very solid noir; the story hits all the usual points with a lot of class. At the center of it (and an essential piece to make it work as well as it does) is Jane Greer, very appealing and convincing; Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas are also very good in their roles. The film has a good variety of great looking locations (both indoors and outdoors, unusual for the genre) and Nicholas Musuraca photographs them all, as well as the cast, simply but with great effectiveness.
