Fifth about The Seventh

True Grit (2010) – Revisit

True Grit: the strength of this film begins in the Coen Brothers’ screenplay: the characters are interesting and round, and the dialogues are rich and fun to listen to. As usually is the case with them, they are just a bit off what one would expect from characters in the genre. The cast is solid, led by Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld, all in full control of their particular speech patterns. Production values are all great; much have I said before about Roger Deakins cinematography, but it bears repeating, and the musical score by Carter Burwell also deserves praise. As is the case with westerns, the locations are a show in themselves.
