Gloria: while there isn’t anything inherently wrong with a film that has just a sliver of a plot, focusing instead in everyday activities and character development, those need to be interesting to hold the interest for the finished work. Despite Paulina García’s lively and courageous performance, her character is not particularly engaging, so neither is her journey. Visually, the choice of going mostly handheld feels unjustified and makes the film less attractive.
